Porsche 911 3.2 Carrera Lightweight – 1984

Offered for sale: a 1984 Porsche 911 3.2 Carrera Coupé, completely rebuilt as a lightweight version. The car was stripped down to the bare body and subsequently rebuilt with great attention to weight reduction, body rigidity, and driving characteristics.

The base is an original 3.2 Carrera. During the restoration, the body was stripped down and reinforced. To achieve the lowest possible weight, fiberglass doors, a carbon fiber roof, a fiberglass hood, and various other lightweight body parts were installed. The side windows and rear window are made of polycarbonate. The curb weight is less than 950 kg, significantly less than that of a standard 3.2 Carrera.

The air-cooled 3.2-liter six-cylinder boxer engine has been completely overhauled. The chassis has also been modified and fitted with Bilstein Club Sport dampers and adjustable stabilizers at the front and rear. Furthermore, the car is equipped with an SSI exhaust system with a classic double tailpipe.

The interior has been kept simple and light. The car is equipped with bucket seats, an RS carpet kit, and a roll cage. Parts that were not necessary have been removed to further limit weight.

Due to the low weight, reinforced bodywork, and modified suspension, this 911 responds much more directly than a standard 3.2 Carrera. The car is built for sporting use and is suitable for rallies, track days, and fast drives on public roads.

Included with the Porsche is an extensive folder containing invoices, photos, and documentation regarding the disassembly, engine overhaul, and complete rebuild.
