Description

Chassis No. WP0ZZZ96ZRS455477Owning-or even just driving-a Speedster is a dream deeply rooted in the imagination of automotive enthusiasts around the world, whether first experienced seated on a childhood road play rug or later while standing in a garage already home to an impressive collection of exceptional automobiles. But a Speedster transformed through not one, but two Evolutions by renowned German performance specialist RUF Automobile to RUF Carrera Turbo EVO specification? That is the sort of dream few would have dared imagine.Completed in Stuttgart during the summer of 1993, this Speedster, one of just 936 Porsche 911 Type 964 Speedsters produced, was delivered new to Japan in October 1994, finished in Guards Red and equipped with the Tiptronic transmission as well as the highly desirable air conditioning with full climate control. By 2014, the car was in Adachi, Tokyo, having accumulated over 60,000 kilometers (about 37,300 miles). Its Japanese registration was permanently canceled before it was exported to Germany, where it was sent in June 2015 to RUF Automobile's headquarters in Pfaffenhausen for a comprehensive restoration and preparation. As documented by the accompanying RUF Zertifikat detailing the work performed, the car underwent not only an extensive restoration, during which ''all mechanical wear and tear connected parts were replaced and returned to as-new condition,'' but was also comprehensively upgraded and personalized. The engine was overhauled and optimized, the Tiptronic transmission replaced with a six-speed manual transmission, and the body completely dry-ice blasted, stripped, and refinished from Porsche Guards Red to the deeper, more intense hue of Ferrari Rosso Mugello Red. A sports braking system with body-color brake calipers, 18-inch RUF five-spoke alloy wheels, and a sports suspension system were also fitted. Inside, the cabin was transformed with sports bucket seats trimmed in new black leather with contrasting red stitching, a RUF steering wheel, lightweight door panels featuring Alcantara, a material twice as light as leather and produced exclusively in a small Italian village, a new RUF instrument cluster, a RUF aluminum pedal set, and a RUF carpet set in red with black leather trim. The refurbishment was completed with a new convertible top fabric and operating mechanism, along with a new sound system incorporating a Porsche Classic Radio.Having covered just 5,365 km (approximately 3,300 miles) in nearly 10 years since its conversion, the car was sold in Germany in 2024 to its current American owner. Far from having reached the end of its journey, the 964 was once again entrusted to RUF by its owner in 2024 to receive the highly desirable and powerful RUF Carrera Turbo (RCT) EVO conversion. The 3.6-liter naturally aspirated flat-six engine was fitted with a turbocharger, bringing output to 425 horsepower. Described by Alois Ruf as “the most usable everyday RUF model,” the RCT EVO delivers a zero-to-60 mph time of 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 200 mph.The accompanying RUF invoice, totaling €220.000, details the extensive work carried out. An additional oil cooler was installed, the front and rear bumpers were replaced with RUF RCT carbon fiber units, the rear decklid was replaced with a RUF RCT one, the car was fitted with 19-inch RUF five-spoke center-lock wheels shod with Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperSport tires, and 350 mm ceramic brakes were installed to provide the stopping power required by the car's significantly increased performance, their calipers finished to match the body color. The transformation was completed by converting the instrument cluster to U.S. specification, which appears to have displayed 3,475 miles when it was installed, meaning the car has covered just 300 miles since being converted to RCT EVO specification.Thoroughly documented by a build sheet, its accompanying 2015 RUF Zertifikat, its 2025 RUF conversion sheet and invoice, and just a few hundred miles since its EVO conversion, this remarkably powerful open-air Porsche 911 RUF RCT EVO Speedster represents what for many enthusiasts remains the ultimate dream and awaits its next custodian with the drop of the hammer.
